A tree and a tree and a tree (A3A3A3)
RECONVERSION OF AN INDUSTRIAL TOWNHOUSE INTO A SUSTAINABLE ATELIER FOR ARCHITECTURE AND HOUSE WITH ELEVATED GARDEN
The old house
The old house had two sheds, one of which has been transformed into the patio, connecting the atelier to the forest/garden.
A complete roof garden for the elevated house
The house sits on the roof of the atelier, which is conceived as a complete roof garden, giving a superb view on the surrounding forest, even though the plot is situated at the end of a high density area of the city (Ghent).
Winner of the Architectural Award of BIS 2012
The jury considered the project to serve as an example of how work and living can be combined on top of each other (on a single plot).
